Week 11 Portraits

I took some shots of my cousin, because she loves taking pictures. It was difficult to find the right pose for her, because I 'm used to taking photos of non squirmy things.  We both had fun!

Week 8 Color adjustments

For this assignment, I wanted to adjust the color and brightness of two of the photos I took in the  previous weeks. The first photo was a macro shot of flowers. I really just wanted to lighten the colors by messing with the curve adjustment and contrast settings. The second photo of inside Barbie's car, I wanted to lighten the colors, to be able to see more of the interior of the car. Although I love the picture, it did come out very dark.

The above is the original. The lighting and colors are bright.
I like the edited image, because the washed out colors set a new tone for the photo. I used a combination of the curves, color balance and hue saturation tools.

In the original photo on the left, the interior is very dark, and the details of the dashboard aren't shown. I used multiple different color settings, including the curves and color balance settings. I like how in the second photo you can see more detail, it amazing what you can do with just adjusting color and brightness

Week 6

I've been visiting my father in Utah, which has amazing jagged mountains and wonderful landscape.  For my shots I'm in a helicopter. I was extremely nervous in the helicopter (I'm not a fan of heights). My favorite photo is the second one because, I like how the road leads to the jagged mountains.

Week 5: Framing

Week 5: Rule of Thirds

Most of the Pictures I take I use this rule. The Rubber ducky is placed on the sink, using ceiling light and the flash. For these photos I like the centered one the best. I like that it comes off as simple.

For the photos of the moon, I really like the moon on the left third line. I think the moon in the corner brightens the photo better. I took this photo around 10:30, the moon was a good source of natural light for this photo.

Week 5

The golden triangle is a compositional guide that stems from the rule of thirds. In order to use this technique you have to imagine lines going through the frame so that they form triangles with the same angles in them. (Also known as equi-angular triangles). You can add more lines, as long as the angles always remain the same.  Below are some photographs where this technique is used.

Three different lighting photos

My nieces came back with party favors from a birthday party so I decided to take pictures of the scraps that were left all over the house. The first  photo is taken with the flash, and also backlight from the computer. The second photo is taken with light from a lamp. The last  photo was taken near a window with the evening light coming through.

color schemes

These photo represents the monochrome color scheme, I took pictures on the macro setting of the bush surrounded by leaves from overgrown plants, as well as the pink and purplish flowers.

The pink flower represents the complementary color scheme. The vivid pink is on the opposite side of the color wheel than the dull green. I love the pink and yellow together because they complement each other well.

The yellow flower photos represents the analogous color scheme, The not yet blossomed flowers are a yellowish green,  which lead the eye to the bright yellow centerpiece

Macro Week 3

For this assignment, My week is described in macro pictures. My favorite picture is the chocolate cake.  I knew I would be getting dessert when I went out to dinner with family, so I brought my camera along, and ordered what sounded like would be presented well. I enjoyed this assignment, because a lot of the pictures you have to guess what they are. It makes you use your imagination in a way.

Compared Photos Week 2

I took pictures of Barbies convertible. In the previous post I took pictures from different angles of the car.  The bottom photo shows the exterior of the car. For that photo I got down to the level of the car. The top photo shows the inside of the car. The perspective from the inside of the car looks real to me. I wanted to make it look as real as possible, and I think in the top photo I achieved that.
